Beaches and Islands
Mombasa: The largest port on the east coast of Africa, with strong Arabic and Portuguese influence in the architecture. Fort Jesus and the Old Town are interesting attractions, close to the main tourist beaches.

Lamu: A fascinating island archipelago, still largely undiscovered, and with almost no motor vehicles. With Arab-influenced architecture and deserted beaches, Lamu is perfect for complete escapism.

Malindi: Once an important Swahili settlement dating back to the 14th century, Malindi is now a tourist beach resort. All hotels have facilities which include water-sports and swimming pools.
