It may be big – 329 rooms – but both the ambience and service are friendly and exceptional. As a member of The Leading Hotels of the World, this property is internationally recognised with the definitive mark of excellence in hospitality. Right in the best area of the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, close enough to all its amenities, but sufficiently removed to be quiet and private, each room has spectacular views over the Atlantic and across to Robben Island or up to the sweeping slopes of the eponymous mountain.

The ‘smoke that thunders’ is the local name for the Falls and to see and hear them is one of the most exciting moments of any trip to Zambia. Coupled with the views, and cruises on the river it makes for a fitting beginning or end to any safari experience.

Consequently an elephant experience is at the heart of this property, where guests can enjoy an unforgettable elephant back safari. Along the way they can espy the Big 5 on games drives or bush walks, and relax in one of the six luxurious tented suites, each of which has its own private deck and plunge pool.
