St James of Knysna

Overview

An elegant and exclusive, privately-owned and run country house hotel set in its own magnificent three acre-garden on the shores of Knysna Lagoon.

All of its 15 rooms and suites are charming and super comfortable with glorious views across the lagoon to the Knysna Heads. Food is a very important part of a sojourn here with delicious country breakfasts, lunches and picnics as well as fine dining in the evenings. The waters of the lagoon can be accessed directly from the lawns in front of the property.

Highlights

Our Thoughts

Great location on the banks of the lagoon, but a car is required to drive into Knysna as the walk is just a little too far. Book one of the superior suites and enjoy an enormous bedroom!

  • Two swimming pools
  • Croquet and fishing
  • Canoes
  • Boat for sundowner cruises on Knysna Lagoon

The hotel boasts a superb dining room and well stocked wine cellar. Country style breakfasts, light lunches, teas and snacks are also served on the various patios and terraces. The Paquita Bar, with its lagoon facing patio is a warm and friendly meeting place. The spectacular and panoramic views of Knysna and the lagoon can be experienced whilst exquisite cuisine is served in the candlelit dining room. Guest can then relax and unwind in front of a crackling log fire in the main lounge whilst savouring a fine port from the hotel’s cellar.

Rooms are split between The Manor and The Courtyard, on either the ground or first floors and have views of either the garden or Knysna Lagoon. All rooms have a separate bath and shower, mini bar, safe and WiFi.

  • Sundowner Cruises on Kynsna Lagoon
  • Water skiing
  • Access to Plettenberg Bay for excursions
  • Croquet and fishing

Whilst children are accepted, there are no specific programmes for them and there are better places in Knsyna for them to stay.
