Beho Beho

Overview

Beho Beho is gloriously located in the Northern part of the Selous Game Reserve, set on the lower slopes of Namikwera Hill and offering stunning views down to the Rufiji River. This is an unashamedly luxurious camp where guests can enjoy the luxuries of a modern safari coupled with the wild and remote environment that the Selous is renowned for.

The rooms here are called Bandas and are open fronted (they can be closed with a canvas curtain in the evenings), incredibly spacious with outdoor showers, running water and flush toilets. They are superb spots for relaxing during the afternoon, enjoying a good book or a nap, or simply just watching the world pass by and maybe enjoying some ad-hoc game viewing.

The game viewing here is superb and with each day planned with the camp manager you can really maximise your time here and have the best possible safari experience. Driving safaris, walks and boat safaris are all available so there is plenty of variety to keep you occupied on a three or even four night stay.

Highlights

Our Thoughts

Beho Beho is one of the most luxurious lodges in Tanzania, offering a laid back, colonial feel but with the superb game viewing and guiding that make Southern Tanzania such a popular safari destination. With superb food, a lovely pool area and even a billiards table, there is plenty to occupy guests in between their safaris which are enjoyed in a variety of ways. The luxury bandas are a great place to retreat to with a good book during the afternoon and wonderfully cozy in the evenings after a long day on safari. If you are looking for true luxury in a wild location then Beho Beho is the choice for you.

Whilst most meals are served in the main dining room, the team at Beho Beho like to regard meals as "moveable feasts" and so you will enjoy meals in a variety of locations during your stay. The food is typical safari fare, simple yet delicious and plentiful, all complimented by a superb wine list. Their bush breakfasts, washed down with a glass or two of champagne are very popular with guests and perfect way to round off a morning exploring the bush.

The 8 individual "Bandas" (stone and thatch cottages) are all open fronted with king sized beds, day beds, plenty of seating areas and spacious bathrooms. For those wanting to sleep with the fronts open, this is possible, but they do have tented fronts should you wish to secure them. The en-suite bathrooms have running water, flush toilets and open air showers which are very popular with guests.

Children are welcome from ages 12 and upwards, but please bear in mind the adult nature of the camp and that there are better options in the Selous for family safaris.
