Azura Selous

In a remote part of the Selous, Africa's largest game reserve, Azura Selous is located far from most of the reserve's lodges providing an exclusive safari experience in this beautiful, wild piece of Africa.

Your expert guides will take you on game drives, exciting bush walks and boat trips to view the huge variety of animal and birdlife with the possibility of encounters with lions, elephants, hippos, giraffes, hippos and endangered wild dogs. Full day game drives with a picnic lunch are a great way to explore more of Selous' natural treasures.

The lodge itself is a haven of peace and tranquillity overlooking the rapids of the Ruaha River. Relax by the infinity pool or in your supremely comfortable and private tented villa, soaking in your plunge pool with a cold drink, revelling in the natural beauty of the African wilderness.

Our Thoughts

A great choice for an exclusive safari experience for honeymooners, couples and families alike.

  • Infinity pool
  • Spa treatments
  • Children's programme

With separate tables rather than communal dining, a la carte meals and varying locations from bush breakfasts to candlelit dinners and private in villa meals, dining at Azura Selous is a special experience.

Each of the 12 tented villas is unique with a chic design, beautiful fabrics and a plunge pool overlooking the Ruaha River. The villas offer space and privacy with large, opulent bathrooms, outdoor showers and a private deck and Azura Selous is one of the few lodges in the reserve to have the added comfort of air-conditioning.

  • Game drives
  • Bush walks
  • Birding
  • Fishing
  • Boat trips
  • Spa

Children aged 6 and over are very welcome at Azura Selous and this is the only camp in the Selous with a dedicated children's programme to educate and entertain. The tented villas are big enough for an extra two beds and meals times are flexible, however as the camp is unfenced and for safety reasons, children under the age of 16 are to share a tent with their parents.

There is plenty for children to get involved in from nature walks around camp, or if over 12 can join their parents and guides on a walking safari. They will also look for animal footprints, and can do castings to take home and remind them of their complete safari experience.
