Leeuwenbosch Country House

A beautifully-restored, family-friendly colonial house with five suites, a baby-sitting service and a children’s programme.

The adjoining Shearer’s Lodge has four suites, including an uber-romantic one for honeymooners, with the properties sharing the swimming pool, gardens, an intimate wedding chapel and a charming stone pub. Both offer a number of guided bush experiences into the malaria-free Amakhala Reserve.

Our Thoughts

In addition to offering great game-viewing, it is also home to a delightful wedding chapel making it the perfect venue for those wanting to marry in the bush. Make sure you have a post-safari drink in the charming stone pub, and listen to the tall tales of the property’s original owner who still lives on the reserve.

  • Swimming pool
  • On-site pub

As this is a family run property, the focus is very much on communal dining in the main house, however, private dining can be arranged for couples should you wish. Food is very homely and plentiful – perfect fuel for enjoying this lovely little game reserve.

Rooms here are split between Leeuwenbosch Lodge and Shearer’s Lodge which is further up the hill. Rooms are comfortable, if simply furnished, but very spacious and an ideal place to rest after a long day on safari.

  • Two game drives daily
  • Guided bush walks
  • River boat game viewing trips

An ideal option for kids, especially as the owners have young children so are very adept at looking after them! The lawns are nice and spacious, as are the family rooms and meals and game drive times can be adapted to ensure the ultimate family safari experience.

Two family suites are available each with inter connecting rooms. A baby sitting service is available on request. There is also a children's program.
