The River Club is Livingstone’s premier destination on the Zambezi River. This owner run lodge, located on an magnificent vantage point, provides stunning views over a sweeping bend on the river. Steeped in history ranging from the establishing of Livingstone as a settler trading post, as a destination for Royal travellers and Hollywood stars over the years, a venue for the most extraordinary sporting events in the past to a gateway for displaced people after World War II, Peter Jones and the members of The River Club and Wilderness Safaris are able to provide an intriguing insight into the rich and colourful history that surrounds The Victoria Falls.
Perhaps the most important point to remember is that The River Club is the place where there are no early 05:30 wake up calls, for here guests are encouraged to lie in and enjoy the surroundings. The ‘Do Nothing Activity’ (DNA) around one of the most magnificent pools in the world is very popular indeed, especially at the end of a safari.
There is no doubt that a few nights stay at The River Club will add a new dimension to anyone’s journey to Africa and have them planning their next trip before they have even left to go home.
A lovable but eccentric lodge set above a bend in the Zambezi River. The sumptuous suites are lovely as are the views over the river, but guests lucky enough to be staying here when one of the legendary night-time games of croquet is held on the sweeping lawns at the front of the lodge are in for a real treat.
The 11 spacious thatched chalets all overlook the mighty Zambezi River and are perfectly positioned to view the African sunset. Each air-conditioned, en suite chalet has a bed draped in mosquito netting, a writing desk, a mini fridge and a settee well positioned to admire the view - simply open the sliding screen doors for unimpeded vistas of the river. Each chalet also has a luxurious bathroom featuring a bathtub with yet another imposing view. The Suites at The River Club open onto a large outdoor deck with a private plunge pool.
The Princess Mary suite is ideal for families - a private 2 bedroom room, with its own walled garden and swimming pool. Four adults can also be accommodated comfortably as each bedroom has an en suite. Children's beds can be arranged in the lounge to allow for a maximum of 6 guests at a time.
Children from 6 years of age accepted. The Princess Mary suite is an ideal choice for families, with two en suite bedrooms and the option for private dining.
