Take the kids on a holiday none of you will ever forget – to the wonderfully family-friendly destination that is South Africa. Sun City, Africa’s very own Disneyland, will keep everyone busy before the many sights of Cape Town, one of the world’s most action-packed cities, lie in wait. Next up is the Garden Route, home to beaches, forests, lagoons and a multitude of attractions, including elephant parks and monkey & bird sanctuaries, before you finish in style on safari, in search of the Big Five in the malaria-free Eastern Cape.
Accommodation includes: The Palace Of The Lost City, Table Bay Hotel, Fancourt Hotel and Hlosi Game Lodge.
Depart London on the direct overnight flight to Johannesburg.
On arrival collect hire car and drive to stay for three nights on bed & breakfast basis at the Palace of the Lost City.
An extraordinary architectural one-off, The Palace of the Lost City at the Sun City resort has been keeping families entertained and enthralled for over 30 years. A playground for the young and old alike, it is home to family rooms and a variety of restaurants & bars, whilst on its doorstep lies an awe-inspiring waterpark, golf courses, water sports centre, tennis courts and Kamp Kwena, an adventure playground which comes with its own animal farmyard and great children’s programme.
Return hire car at Johannesburg airport and depart on the direct flight to Cape Town. On arrival collect hire car and drive to stay for three nights on bed & breakfast basis at the Table Bay Hotel.
Located in the very heart of Cape Town’s Waterfront, the Table Bay was one of the area’s first hotels, and it still remains one of its finest. Situated within walking distance of a plethora of shops and restaurants, and family attractions which include an aquarium, big wheel, playground and boat trips, this five-star hotel is perfect for all ages as it offers a selection of family rooms as well as a heated swimming pool, kiddie’s menus and child-minding services.
Drive onward to George to stay for three nights on bed & breakfast basis at Fancourt Hotel.
Located at the foot of the Outeniqua Mountains, Fancourt is the ultimate children’s playground.
The superb rooms and suites are supplemented by facilities which include tennis courts, spa, gym and three golf courses, but the big family attraction is the leisure centre - home to indoor and outdoor pools, and to the Kidz Club, where the supervised activities include arts and crafts, nature walks, painting and a jungle gym. There is even a teen lounge, equipped with air hockey, table tennis, pool, foosball and consoles.
Continue via Port Elizabeth to the Amakhala Game Reserve to stay for two nights on full board basis, including safari activities, at Hlosi Game Lodge.
The family suites at this malaria-free safari lodge, which sits on a gentle hill above a river plain, are perfect for mum, dad and the kids. The two en-suite bedrooms are separated by a lounge which opens out onto a deck overlooking the plain - ideal for spotting passing animals. There is a special educational children’s programme on offer – Cubs on Safari - with mini-game drives, face-painting and bug-hunting all highlights. Adults can also enjoy bushwalks, or the whole family can just relax around the sparkling pool.
Return hire car at Port Elizabeth airport and depart on the flight to Johannesburg, connecting with the direct overnight flight to the UK.
