A wonderfully remote and unexplored two-island nation, Sao Tome & Principe lies close to the equator off the western coast of Central Africa.
A couple of days are spent on the big island, Sao Tome, home to extensive cocoa and coffee plantations and one of the world’s smallest capital cities, before time is enjoyed at the remarkable Bom Bom Lodge on the smaller sister island, Principe – where breath-taking sceneries of waterfalls, sandy beaches and rainforest are only trumped by the opportunity to view whales, turtles, dolphins and a kaleidoscope of bird species.
Daytime flight via Lisbon to Sao Tome. Transfer to stay for two nights at Omali Lodge Boutique Hotel, a small waterside hotel with a range of facilities, and the perfect base from which to explore the coffee plantations, beaches and many sights of fascinating Sao Tome Island.
Fly across to Principe Island and transfer to stay for seven nights at Bom Bom Island Resort, a true Robinson Crusoe-retreat set deep into lush vegetation on rainforest-covered hills, alongside two beautiful beaches, and offering activities that include diving, whale-watching, turtle-tracking, bird-watching and visits to the island’s cultural and historic attractions.
Fly to Sao Tome to depart on the overnight flight to Lisbon.
Arrive Lisbon and fly onward to the UK, arriving mid-morning.
