Unique & Romantic Places To Stay in Africa
Africa certainly has no shortage of beauty and wonder throughout its many countries, however every now and then there’s a place or two that truly stand out in their own way. To celebrate some of the most romantic and unique treasures Africa has to offer we’ve listed just a few of our favourites below:
Jack’s Camp, Botswana
Persian carpets, Moroccan style tents and traditional colonial era safari touches all make for an incredible sight at Jack's Camp. Located in the eerily beautiful Makgadikgadi Pans, where the horizon is endless, there is a surprisingly wide range of things to do during a stay here – however visiting Chapman’s Baobab has to be top of the list, it’s one of the oldest and biggest trees in Africa. Request sundowners out on the pans for a sunset like you’ve never seen before.
Situated practically on top of the Victoria Falls, Tongabezi was designed for romance. Each room overlooks the river, a breath-taking view that can even be admired from the comfort of your outdoor bath! Be sure to take advantage of the private dining option – a platform moored in the middle of the mighty Zambezi River, for a truly unique and surreal dining experience. The staff truly go out of their way for special occasions, and take such good care of you it can make it all that more difficult to leave.
Kingston Treehouse, Lion Sands Private Game Reserve
Equipped with full bathroom and shower facilities, and constructed out of glass and wood – this is one of the most striking treehouses you will ever see. Armed with a delicious picnic basket of tapas, drinks and lanterns to provide mood lighting, you will enjoy your dinner overlooking the treetops and spend the rest of the night stargazing. Whilst there is an additional cost to staying in the treehouse (the main part of your stay will be at the beautiful Ivory Lodge) it’s worth every penny.
Nkwichi Lodge, Lake Malawi
Nkwichi Lodge is a remote property and the perfect hideaway for weary travellers, set right on the shores of Lake Malawi. With only six luxury chalets and two private houses, chances are you won’t see the other guests unless you really try to. Rooms are hidden amongst the trees providing ultimate privacy, and they all come with their own private cove, veranda and outdoor bath (in some instances carved out of the rock). Take a trip on a dhow for sundowners before making your way to dinner overlooking the lake of stars.
