Day 4Cape Town

City Tour (Table Mountain, Wine Tasting, Boat Cruise, Evening with David Lloyd)

After breakfast the group will begin the day, in the company of former cricketer, chairman of selectors & national performance manager David Graveney, with a trip up the city’s most iconic feature - Table Mountain.

One of the new natural 7 wonders of the world, it is a mountain chain which stretches from Signal Hill in the north, to Cape Point in the South and is the single richest floristic area in the world. After taking the cable car trip up 1089 metres to the top, visitors can enjoy one of the hiking trails and explore the summit further or just soak up the commanding 360-degree views of Cape Town, Table Bay and the nearby peaks of the surrounding mountains, or spot the native rock dassies.

The group will then travel to Cape Town’s beautiful wine-producing area of Constantia to visit South Africa’s oldest wine estate, Groot Constantia, where wines have been produced for over 330 years. The opportunity to explore the original Cape Dutch Manor House and visit the Cloete Cellar & the wine museum will be followed by a tasting of five of the estate’s superb wines, before lunch is enjoyed on the harbour’s edge in the coastal settlement of Hout Bay.

After lunch a boat cruise will take the group out from Hout Bay harbour to the Duiker Island seal colony where, in addition to numerous sea birds, thousands of wild Cape Fur seals can be viewed close up in their beautiful natural habitat.

Tonight there will be a unique evening in the company of David 'Bumble' Lloyd, the former England cricketer and coach, and now hugely popular and acclaimed commentator and pundit. As well as looking forward to the Test, ‘Bumble’ will share some of his favourite cricketing stories, answer questions from the group, and sign copies of his latest book, Around the World in 80 Pints: My Search for Cricket’s Greatest Places.
