Gorilla Trekking

Numbering fewer than 700, the endangered mountain and lowland gorillas in Africa represent the ultimate in game viewing. Mainly due to the fact that these magnificent and majestic creatures are only found in a handful of locations (Uganda, Rwanda and The Congo). To get the opportunity to see these striking creatures, the journey will take you through misty forests and breathtaking routes - but to be one of the few people who will get to see them, is a once in a lifetime experience.

A visit to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, which is home to just under half of the world's mountain gorilla population, is a must. Rangers who are knowledgeable in tracking gorillas will locate and guide you towards a gorilla family. After which you will get an hour to interact with them and no more. The gorillas are completely wild but have become used to seeing humans after years of habituation. You can watch young gorillas playfully interact with their parents, while a silverback looks straight at you!

You will need permits to view the gorillas, and we can help you organise these for you. These permits though expensive, go towards maintaining the park and wildlife. The trek requires some stamina and a degree of luck, but you will be rewarded with an unforgettable and magical encounter with these wonderful primates.
