This morning the group will enjoy a walking tour of Cape Town’s historic Bo-Kaap  district, followed by a Cape Malay cookery demonstration.

Situated strategically at the foot of Signal Hill, the cobbled roads, colourful houses & historic and Islamic sites of Bo-Kaap have preserved a people and culture through community, the practice of religion and tradition. With its origins dating back to the cooking pots of 17th and 18th century exiled dissidents and slaves brought to the Cape from the Dutch East Indies, Cape Malay cuisine is said by some to be the country’s national cuisine. Led by renowned local Cape Malay chef and TV personality Zainie Misbach, the group will be offered a hands-on, practical lesson in how to cook like a real Cape Malay 'Auntie’ before enjoying a traditional lunch.

After lunch a city tour of Cape Town, talking in sights such as the Castle of Good Hope, Company Gardens & St George’s Cathedral, will be enjoyed before the group, weather permitting, take a trip up the city’s most iconic feature - Table Mountain. One of the new natural 7 wonders of the world, it is a mountain chain which stretches from Signal Hill in the north, to Cape Point in the South and is the single richest floristic area in the world. After taking the cable car trip up 1089 metres to the top, visitors can enjoy one of the hiking trails and explore the summit further or just soak up the commanding 360-degree views of Cape Town, Table Bay and the nearby peaks of the surrounding mountains, or spot the native rock dassies.
