Nestled among the granite domes of the Matopos Hills is Amalinda Lodge, a peaceful retreat that is very much a part of the environment, built around the massive boulders.
The nine thatched rooms and suites combine luxury with the natural environment incorporating the rocks into the structure of the rooms. The main lodge areas enjoy panoramic views of the hills and guests can relax in the cosy library, choose a wine from the cave wine cellar or take a swim in the pool overlooking a waterhole.
The Matopos have a large population of black and white rhino and they can be tracked on game drives or on foot. Visits to the hilltop grave of Cecil Rhodes and walks to visit ancient San rock art sites are also not to be missed. The lodge also offers spa treatments for those wishing to include a little pampering with their game viewing and sightseeing experience in the Motopos.
It is rare to find a place that is truly magical. The ambiance of Amalinda with its spaces melded into the natural surroundings so effortlessly gives a special touch to the experience in addition to the luxurious amenities. The quirky granite boulder formations are a constant source of enjoyment and exploring the surrounding National Park and sights are a true delight.
Meals are enjoyed in the open air dining room around a huge teak dining table where. A variety of delicious meals are created by the Chef and his team.
The lodge has nine thatched rooms and suites set around the huge granite boulders with bathrooms built into the rock face.
Children are welcome and the lodge has three family rooms, each with two double beds. There is no specific children's program at the lodge, however children can spend their days rock climbing and chasing rock lizards, skinks and Giant Plated Lizards when not out exploring the Matobo National Park with their parents.
