Depart London Heathrow on the overnight flight to Kigali.
On arrival you will be taken to the Parc National des Volcans for a three night stay at Five Volcanoes Boutique Resort. Conveniently located just 15 minutes drive from the national park headquarters, the hotel has 11 rooms and two family cottages with a swimming pool, lovely gardens complete with hammocks and a massage hut. The next morning you will join a trek to view the endangered Mountain Gorillas. While the walk can be long and strenuous the hour that you spend with the gorillas watching them feed, play and interact will live long in the memory. During your stay you will also take a guided trek to see the rare golden monkeys.
Today you will be driven to Lake Kivu for a two night stay at Cormoran Lodge which is set on the shores of Lake Kivu, a beautiful lake of turquoise blue. The lodge has just seven wooden cabins, each with a private balcony overlooking the lake and its islands. From the VIP cabin you can see the Nyiragongo Volcano across the border in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The lodge has a lounge, restaurant and bar with a terrace with a panoramic view
Leave the lake and travel towards the Nyungwe Forest National Park for a three night stay at Nyungwe Top View Hill Hotel. As the name suggests, this comfortable property sits high up and offers breathtaking views of the lush lands below. It is the perfect base from which to explore Rwanda’s spectacular Nyungwe Forest National Park, home to numerous primates including chimpanzees. Guests are accommodated in individual en-suite cottages, each with a private balcony with beautiful views. During your stay one chimpanzee trek and one canopy walk in the park are included.
Transfer back to Kigali, stopping en-route to view the King’s Palace and Museum in Butare, for the overnight flight to London Heathrow.
