Although probably best known for being home to the Victoria Falls, there is so much more to Zimbabwe than this iconic African sight. It is rich in cultural and historical sites, such as the unique rock formations of Matobo Hills and the Great Zimbabwe ruins, and it also offers exceptional safari experiences with some of Africa’s best wildlife guides; Hwange National Park is famed for its large elephant population and walking safaris, while Mana Pools is a UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for canoeing safaris along the Zambezi River.
To help you plan your holiday to Zimbabwe, our Africa expert Simon has put together a short guide on everything you need to know about travelling to Zimbabwe post-lockdown.
1. What are the current entry requirements for Zimbabwe?
All passengers must have a negative PCR result not older than 48 hours before departure.

2. Will I need to quarantine in Zimbabwe before I can enjoy my holiday? If so, for how long?
Travellers do not need to quarantine on arrival but may be requested to undergo a further PCR test if officials believe they are symptomatic. The test costs USD70 and results will be available after at least two hours. If the test is negative the traveller will be able to continue without quarantining. If positive, the traveller will have to quarantine at an approved private facility at their own expense for up to 10 days.
3. Are there any restrictions on what I can do and where I can visit while I’m in Zimbabwe?
There are no such restrictions but tourists are expected to follow social distancing and hygiene measures.

4. What policies has Zimbabwe put in place to reduce the risk of Covid-19?
Masks must be worn at all times in any public areas and if stopped at police roadblocks.
5. Will I need to quarantine on my return?
For travellers who have been to Zimbabwe in the previous 10 days entry to the UK is not permitted except for British and Irish passport holders, long term visa holders and permanent residents, all of whom will be required to self-isolate.
