The Highlands Lodge

Overview

The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is about much more than the famous, eponymous crater and at The Highlands Lodge you can explore more of this region than is usually possible from other camps. While you can still enjoy a game drive on the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater the camp's remote location on the forested slopes of the Olmoti Crater mean that nature walks from camp, visits to a Masai village and a hike to the bottom of the Empakaai Crater allow you to have a more varied and rounded experience.

The accommodation is in uniquely designed dome-shaped suites with large glass fronts to reveal the spectacular views. It can get cold at this high-altitude camp and a wood-burning stove keeps the suite cosy.

Our Thoughts

The Ngorongoro experience with a difference, The Highlands Lodge is far from other camps with the chance to explore more of the region and stretch your legs on crater hikes.

  • Library
  • Bar
  • Indoor fireplace.

The Highlands Lodge has just eight dome-shaped suites with floor to canvas windows to make the most of the amazing views and a wood-burning stove for those cold highland evenings.

  • Climb Olmoti Crater
  • Hike to the bottom of Empakaai Crater
  • Game drive in Ngorongoro Crater
  • Masai village visit

Children five and older are welcome and the camp has one family suite.
