More Cape Wanderings as Chris Wain checks into another of the new hotel openings in Cape Town.
A lot of hotels in Cape Town claim that some of their rooms have a bit of a view. At Cape View Clifton, all of the rooms have THE view. Set high up on the hill in cool Clifton, the property has just five large suites, (where other boutique hotels would have tried to have squeeze in twice the number of rooms), and two large self-catering apartments, all of which offer full, unobstructed views of the Atlantic Ocean, the Twelve Apostles and the 4 beaches of Clifton below.
In addition to the large decks which each room boasts, there is a swimming pool with sundeck, lounge area, bar with honesty fridges, and a gym which has the same knock-dead views for people to work out to. The apartments are perfect for families, who are still able to use the rest of the facilities and enjoy the fresh, funky breakfast which puts a number of larger hotels in the area to shame.
The only negatives are that it is not really suitable for wheelchairs, there are not many eateries within walking distance, and that with so few rooms and such a magnificent setting, unless bookings are made well in advance here, many potential guests are going to be very disappointed. A small hotel with big rooms, big views, and a big future. Definitely, one to recommend.
