Set on a beautiful beach in a quiet area south of Dar es Salaam on the Tanzanian mainland, Ras Kutani is a barefoot hideaway at which to relax after your safari adventures. For those who prefer a more active stay there are facilities for sailing, wind-surfing, snorkelling and fishing. Adjacent to a fresh water lagoon, the resort is on a four kilometre crescent of white sand and gentle surf, cooled by tropical trade winds.
Accommodation is in nine beach cottages, four hillside suites and a family house constructed from local materials, with luxury interiors. Warm and friendly staff will ensure that your every need is catered for. Delicious Pan-African cuisine and ocean-fresh seafood is served in the beautiful spacious dining area or on the beach under a starlit African sky.
There's no doubt that Ras Kutani offers an idyllic escape and it is fast becoming known as 'the' place to go for the finest Tanzanian beach experience.
After the excitement of seeing lions, elephants and all the different wild animals on game drives and wilderness walks, and nights of hearing the cacophony of nocturnal life of the bush, there's nothing better than being welcomed into this tranquil retreat on this quiet stretch of coast. The soft lapping of the waves and the twittering of birds make for the best ambient sounds to relax with while exploring the surrounds or simply enjoying the peace and quiet of beach life.
Served on the restaurant terrace or on the beach, the cuisine is inspired by the locally caught seafood and famous spices of the coast complemented by fresh salads and delicious desserts.
There are nine thatched beach cottages all with ocean views and a verandah complete with hammock for those lazy moments. The four suites offer more privacy located as they are on the hillside amongst the trees and with views down to the ocean and feature private plunge pools. The two bedroom Hill House is perfect for families and is set on a hill with wonderful sea views.
Children from the age of six are welcome at Ras Kutani and there is a family house with two ensuite rooms. The activities are also child friendly making this a great place for the family to reconnect with nature
