With the famous migrating herds of wildebeest, zebra and antelope traversing a huge range in the Serengeti National Park, how do you give yourself a good chance of finding them? Simple, follow them! From June to November Olakira Camp has a prime site in the pristine wilderness of the northern Serengeti very close to one of the Mara River crossing points, so you are never far from the action. When the herds head south so does the camp, occupying a location in a shady forest from December to March close to the plains where the herds graze and calve before moving on again.
The camp has nine traditional tents for that authentic under canvas experience and lanterns to add a touch of romance.
Olakira provides a traditional under canvas safari as it follows the wildebeest herds and expert guides to maximise your migration experience
Tasty, hearty meals are served in the mess tent and the campfire is a great place for a drink and chat with your fellows guests and your friendly hosts.
Olakira has just nine traditional canvas safari tents with some creature comforts such as king size beds and fine linen and a private verandah on which to sit and take in the views.
Children six years and older are welcomed at Olakira and the camp has a family tent. Learn some bush skills and folklore from your guide.
