Zimbabwe is a superb but often underrated destination and this itinerary showcases its highlights. Marvel at Victoria Falls, one of the world’s most impressive waterfalls and then head off on safari to Hwange National Park, famed for its elephants and walking safaris, and finally to the unspoilt wilderness of Mana Pools.
Accommodation includes: Ilala Lodge, Somalisa Camp and Zambezi Expeditions
Overnight flight from Heathrow to Johannesburg on British Airways.
Morning arrival and connecting flight to Victoria Falls. You will be met and taken to Ilala Lodge for a two night stay. The hotel is the closest to the falls, which are just a 10 minute walk away, and is also very handy for the shops and restaurants in town. There are numerous activities and excursions in and around Victoria Falls with helicopter flights, sunset cruises on the Zambezi river and, of course, visits to the falls themselves being the most popular. The adventurous might want to take a bunjee jump off the railway bridge which spans the gorge between Zimbabwe and Zambia or take a white water rafting trip on the Zambezi.
You will be taken to the airport for a light aircraft flight to Hwange, Zimbabwe’s largest national park and home to impressively large herds of elephant and buffalo as well as sable and roan antelope and predators such as lion, cheetah and wild dog. You will spend three nights at Somalisa Camp which has a prime position in a private concession and is a wonderful fusion of traditional safari and bush luxury. Discover for yourself on game drives and walking safaris why Zimbabwe’s guides are considered to be the best in the business.
Today you will fly by light aircraft to Mana Pools, a beautiful wilderness area of woodland and floodplains on the banks of the Zambezi River. You will stay for three nights at Zambezi Expeditions, a traditional safari camp where you can immerse yourself in nature on bush walks and game drives as well as canoeing and boat trips on the Zambezi.
Fly by light aircraft to Harare for the afternoon flight to Johannesburg and overnight flight on British Airways to Heathrow.
