Kenya Holidays

About Kenya

Kenya is the home of the safari holiday, as it was one of the first places to embrace this extraordinary and exciting experience, showing travellers the true wonders of the wild. The country was also the first to introduce the concept of the Big Five, a collective group of animals consisting of elephant, lion, rhinoceros, buffalo and leopard.

Holidays to Kenya allow you to explore a vast land which stretches from the Indian Ocean across the low plains. This leads to Lake Victoria, on the border with Uganda, and follows onto the central highlands. These highlands are divided by the Great Rift Valley, right through to Mount Kenya, the country’s highest point.

This East African country is a land of explorers, farmers and over 70 indigenous tribal groups. It houses the most magnificent national parks and nature reserves on the continent. Discover the Amboseli National Park at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro or the Masai Mara National Reserve at the northern end of the Serengeti, which is part of the great migration experience, where hundreds of thousands of wildebeest, zebra and antelope follow the rains.

There is also the desert-like Samburu Reserve and the Rift Valley Lakes,  filled with both freshwater and salt, which are famed for their profusion of birdlife, hippos and crocodiles; and not to mention the Indian Ocean resorts and their sublime beaches.

Interesting things to do in Kenya

Holidays to Kenya offer the chance to experience a vast range of unique activities, all in one trip. Take a balloon ride over the Masai Mara and take in the astounding panoramic views of the African plains, as you spot Africa's diverse wildlife roaming in their natural habitat.

The incredible Sera Conservancy in Samburu-Land is home to black rhino, and guests at Saruni Rhino can embark on the exhilarating experience of tracking these endangered creatures on foot. You can also visit the “singing wells”, a series of 50 springs where Samburu pastoralists bring their livestock, singing traditional songs as they draw the water from the deep wells.

Alternatively, if you are feeling adventurous and seeking a trip off-the-beaten-track, you can join a walking safari in the Laikipia region in central Kenya. Your tents and equipment will be carried for you by camels while you take in stunning landscapes, wildlife, birdlife and local culture. Anyone looking to explore the underwater world in Kenya can dive off the Mombasa coast and if you have a passion for the ocean, explore the exotic sea life that the Indian Ocean has to offer; the crystal blue waters here make it an idyllic spot for divers to investigate.
